12 % of young adults and children between age 6 – 19 years who have permanent hearing damage !
There Are 3 Top Tips Why You Should Add Captions When Web Video Marketing
I shall bring them to you over the next 3 days….
So Have you joined in the new marketing strategy and started creating videos joining the world of Web video marketing ?
If you have decided to take part in web video marketing, you most likely have taken all of the necessary steps to creating informative and value filled videos.
You have most likely figured out what you want to say.
How you want to say it.
Where you’re going to film your new web video.
However, there is possibly one aspect about web video marketing that you may not have thought about, I know you have heard all the top video marketers and The Six Figure Mentors suggest transcribing your video so people read it but that to is hard work anti is not all you should do. Now I would also like to ask you when you’re in the production and editing phase of your web videos, do you ever think, “How will individuals who can’t hear very well understand my web video marketing ?”
More than likely, you have either thought about adding a transcript to assist and aid those hard of hearing to your web video but figured you will get to it next time as you are in a hurry to post your new creation on YouTube and to be honest, no one has said you have to !
You are right there is no regulation regarding putting captions onto your marketing web videos, you may have not thought about it fleetingly and ended up pushing it to the back of your mind. A case of who reads captions on web videos anyway to your video.
Do you know what the real tragedy in Web Video Marketing ?
The real tragedy in the Vloging or web video marketing world is there are currently over 12 % of children / young adults between age 6 – 19 years who have permanent hearing damage! It is time we start to realise that every year we stand to loose a lot of potential clients when web video marketing !
So now you know they may watch your video if there are great scene shots, animations or photos but have no idea what you are saying or understand what you are trying to do or convey to your audience, simply because they can’t hear you or at best can only just hear you !
Yes times are changing and though many people are now adding captions there are still a lot who do not add captions to their web videos.
I do need to be honest here and say it is hard work. Adding captions is a long process.
There are major benefits to be gained from adding captions to web marketing videos !
But do you know if you take the time and you are able to add captions there are major benefits for you in your web video marketing !
The main benefit is gaining a whole new following, which are the individuals who are hard of hearing.
Tomorrow I share tip number Two

The Six Figure Mentors Share The Importance Of Optimised Web Video !.
How Important Is Optimised Web Video ?
Flash player optimised web video
When you film a web video, than you are more than likely not going to be able to simply upload it in the exact same format that you shot it in, because video files are usually huge in size and would weigh down any web server, which is why you must optimise your web video.
Many people who are first getting started in making and distributing their web videos do not understand that it is extremely important that it’s an optimised web video for the web.
The reason why you must optimise your web video is because you have to have a video that is under a certain size, or it would simply take too long to download, and would cost you massive amounts of bandwidth whenever someone views it. But how do you exactly optimise a video for the web?
Optimising your web video for the web begins when you first take your camera out of its case.
How you film your video will play a major role in how well it will interact with the Internet.
There are several video filming tips that you should follow if you want to have a great web video that is perfect for the web.
Make sure that when you are filming a video you minimise any type of camera movement.
This includes zooming in and out, as well as panning over to view another object.
If you do have to move the camera while filming your web video, use a tripod because you will receive smooth transitions.
Remember you can move the camera so slowly that it will not cause a disruption in how the video will be seen.
Second tip for optimising your video for the web while you are actually filming it is by using ample amounts of light.
Make sure that you stay away from “hot spots,” which are areas of extreme bright white light,
Remember it is very important that you use ample lighting for the individuals in your web video to be seen.
Optimised Web Video !

QuickTime optimised web video
Once you have filmed and edited your web video, you begin the process of optimising its actual size for the internet.
In laymen’s terms this means compressing the size of your video file popular options are Flash which is installed in 90 percent of computers worldwide and used on sites like YouTube. Microsoft Silverlight software was launched to challenge Flash’s dominance.

Microsoft Silverlight
There is an easy option if you intend putting your video on the web so people can watch them and down load them if they want to. Quicktime or Windows Media are both good for computer playback on both PC’s and Mac’s. Quicktime is popular as it is possible to edit.
Widows Media
When you are in this process, it is always a good idea to cut the frame rate below 15fps, or frames per second. The reason for this is because when you cut the frame rate, it allows more data to be stored in each frame, thus giving you picture quality that is much better than if you were to keep your frame rate at a higher pace.
Of course, you must also make sure that the overall size of the video fits within the standard requirements for web videos.
With all web videos you will want to make sure that they are sized at 640 x 360 for YouTube but higher quality videos can be 1280 x720 also known as HD. This is the perfect size for the Internet, because it is not too small, or too large. So it is the perfect size for speedy viewing, without loosing the quality of the video. But do make sure that when you re-size your web video, you do not make it any smaller than 320 x 240 pixels because it will make the video so small it will be hard for most individuals to even see clearly what is on the screen.
This post is rather detailed but may help people new to creating web video but do look at the previous post for YouTube guidance on uploading your video’s.

How To Optimizing Your Video Uploads The Six Figure Mentors Suggest The Source YouTube !
Optimizing your video uploads to YouTube

Now I think this will be the last in this series for a while time I made a few videos instead but I shall keep you informed of any new stuff I pick-up on YouTube.
YouTube offers the option to view content in high definition with 1080p resolution — when the source upload supports it. In order to upload videos in high definition, see the tips listed below.
In general, for best upload results, ensure your video and audio lengths are the same. If you experience audio or video playback problems with your upload, see this Help Center article to learn more.
How to upload wide screen videos To YouTube.
-
– The less a video is re-encoded prior to uploading, the better the resulting YouTube video quality. We encourage you to upload your videos as close to the original source format as possible, with a minimum of intermediate re-encoding steps. Each re-encoding can generally degrade the quality of your video and may create some specific problems which we’ll address below.
-
– The video frame-rate should be the same as the original where possible. For film sources, a 24 fps or 25 fps progressive master yields the best results, while videos that have had a re-sampling transfer process applied — i.e. a Telecine pull-down — often result in a lower quality video.
-
– High-definition videos are the preferred format for ingestion which result in YouTube videos of the highest quality currently available. It also means your video can be upgraded as new formats are developed on the site.
- - Since there is no facility to re-upload videos, it’s important to test that your audio and video quality are satisfactory before you release your video publicly onto YouTube.
-
Once a video becomes popular, the number of views, user ratings, user comments and other community data, cannot be transferred if another, higher quality version of the same video is uploaded. Make sure you get it right!
-
- The aspect ratio of the original source video should always be maintained when it’s uploaded: Uploaded videos should never include letterboxing or pillarboxing bars.
-
The YouTube player automatically adds black bars so that videos are displayed correctly without cropping or stretching, no matter the size of the video or the player. For example, the player will automatically add vertical bars (pillarboxing) to 4:3 videos in the new 16:9 widescreen player size.
-
If the player is re-sized (i.e. when embedded on another website), the same process takes place so that 16:9 videos are letterboxed (black bars top and bottom) when the player is sized to 4:3.
-
Similarly, anamorphic videos will be automatically letterboxed when shown in either 16:9 or 4:3 sized players. The player can only do this if the native aspect ratio of the video is maintained.
-
If you would like to adjust the fit of your video in our player after upload, you can also use formatting tags to make adjustments.
If letterboxing is added to a video before it is uploaded (i.e. in the case of creating a 4:3 video from a 16:9 master), the widescreen player will add pillarbox bars too, resulting in black bars all around the video (windowboxing) and a bad viewing experience (see the diagram below).
How to do it

Upload a 16:9 video at its original aspect ratio (1280×720 recommended) Video fills the YouTube widescreen 16×9 player. Nice job!
Upload a 4:3 video at its original aspect ratio (640×480 recommended) Video is displayed in the widescreen player at the right size and ratio with letterbox bars. Looks pretty sweet! How not to do it

Add letterbox bars to the top and bottom before uploading so that the video fits a 4:3 player How to Fix Aspect Ratio on already uploaded videos (CC available) The YouTube player adds pillarbox bars left and right to the 4:3 video fit widescreen. Bars surround the video. Boo!
NOW HERE IS THE MAGIC DETAIL ! THAT TELLS YOU HOW TO CORRECT THE UGLY BLACK BOXES IN YOUTUBE
Formatting Tags For YouTube
You’re able to alter the appearance and format of your video by adding specific tags to your video. You can add these tags before you upload your video file to the site, or you can also add the tags to edit an existing video that you’ve uploaded to your account in the past. The video’s altered appearance will display when the video plays on YouTube and in embedded players.
To add formatting tags to a video file you’re about to upload to YouTube:
1. Sign into your YouTube account, and click Upload from the top of the homepage.
2. On the next page, click Upload video then select the file you’d like to upload from your computer.
3. As the video file’s uploading, you’ll see the Tag category below the upload progress bar.
Depending on how you’d like to format your video, type one of the following tags into the Tags section:
A) Tag: yt:crop=16:9?(Zooms in on the 16:9 area, removes windowboxing)
B) Tag: yt:stretch=16:9?(Fixes anamorphic content by scaling to 16:9)
C) Tag: yt:stretch=4:3?(Fixes 720×480 content that is the wrong aspect ratio by scaling to 4:3)
Once your video uploads to the site, it should be formatted according to the formatting tag you added while the video was uploading.
To add formatting tags to a video you’ve already uploaded to YouTube:
1. Sign into your YouTube account.
2. Click your username located in the top right-hand corner of the YouTube homepage. A drop-down menu will appear; click My Videos.
3. Click the Edit button below the video you wish to add formatting tags to.
4. Depending on how you’d like to format your video, type one of the following tags into the Tags section on the left:
A) Tag: yt:crop=16:9?(zooms in on the 16:9 area, removes windowboxing)
B) Tag: yt:stretch=16:9?(fixes anamorphic content by scaling to 16:9)
C) Tag: yt:stretch=4:3?(fixes 720×480 content that is the wrong aspect ratio by scaling to 4:3)
D) Tag: yt:quality=high?(default to a high quality stream, depending on availability)
Now YouTube tells me that this information was updated 01/05/2011

I would like to add that YouTube have now made it so much easier to upload good quality videos by following these simple steps and I personally would like to publicly thank them.
